Glasswort project

The team at FuturEcology have been involved in restoration work in the Waimea Estuary, trying to re-introduce glasswort (Sarcocornia quinqueflora), a species of succulent halophytic coastal shrub, and other saltmarsh species such as oioi, Juncus krausii and saltmarsh ribbonwood to an area of old gravel pit and road.

Patriach Project

In 2019, Mike Aviss from Marlborough District Council (MDC) introduced FuturEcology to Lucy Marshall from Patriach Vineyard Limited Partnership.

The 73 hectare vineyard, owned by My Farm Investments, has three areas identified as significant wetlands by MDC and My Farms were very keen to work at restoring these wetlands to their former glory.

Altimarloch Vineyard is situated in the mid Awatere Valley Marlborough. The former sheep farm has been converted on the terraces to productive vineyard but amongst this are wetlands and escarpments that the management of Altimarloch wish to restore.
