FuturEcology & EmGuard ™ November update

Our thoughts are with Auckland, Waikato and Northland as they continue to battle Covid, lockdowns and all the disruptions this is causing to people’s lives.

Emma found an interesting article describing the state of languishing, which really resonated. It is hard to plan ahead or find the motivation for getting stuck into projects but despite this we are still seeing a range of exciting restoration projects happening around the country and committed and enthusiastic people making things happen.

On our travels

We were lucky to take a quick break to Taranaki and Wellington over Labour Weekend and visited Pukeiti, an amazing Rhododendron collection high on the slopes of the Kaitake Range.

The next day we called in at Lake Rotokere, a pest proofed sanctuary near Eltham, alive with Saddlebacks, Stitch birds and many others in mature forest surrounding a lake.

Then we moved on down to Wellington and went to Otari-Wiltons Bush which is a fantastic native arboretum that is truly inspiring to visit.

The amazing thing about all these places was that they were also free, so if you find yourself in any of these places, take the chance to visit.

We couldn’t resist taking a photo of this magnificent flowering wineberry Aristotelia Serrata.

Wakapuaka river catchment restoration project

We were thrilled to be featured in a recent Stuff article about the call for community help in the Wakapuaka river catchment restoration project that will see 100,000 trees planted.

You can read the full article here.

Emguard deliveries

EmGuards continue to find their way around the country. We apologise for any delays in getting them to you. Freight is getting more and more challenging in these difficult times, made significantly worse by ferry break downs and cancellations and backlogs of parcels at Courier Post and Toll, especially for rural customers.

Please make sure you allow yourself about two weeks from placing your order to receiving your guards especially as we move into the crazy Christmas rush.

Price rise

We have been notified of a price increase due to pressures on freight and paper supplies.

Unfortunately, we have had to pass this price increase on so there will be an increase of 10 cents per guard plus GST on both our wholesale and retail rate from 1st January 2022.

Wholesale prices kick in for quantities over 1500 EmGuards (a full pallet). For orders over 10,500 EmGuards we will negotiate as there are some options around freight.

Freight prices for delivery to your address will be quoted at the time of your order as these continue to change with petrol/diesel price increases and other variables.

Thinking of a good sustainable Christmas present for family and friends?

Think EmGuard ™.

We have good supplies on hand at the moment.

If you are planning for next year’s planting, keep in touch to discuss potential numbers and options.

Best of luck with the run up to Christmas.

Tramping the Milford Track

Jan and Robert were really excited to do the Milford track in mid-November. Jan was a hut warden there 35 years ago, and was re-visiting one of her favourite places in New Zealand.
