Glasswort project

The team at FuturEcology have been involved in restoration work in the Waimea Estuary, trying to re-introduce glasswort (Sarcocornia quinqueflora), a species of succulent halophytic coastal shrub, and other saltmarsh species such as oioi, Juncus krausii and saltmarsh ribbonwood to an area of old gravel pit and road.

Lake Ōhau restoration planting

The Ōhau Conservation Trust has planted about 3500 native plants alongside Lakes Ōhau and Middleton in the last 10 or so years. The Trust started using EmGuards in 2019, after deciding the days of plastic and wire plant protectors were over!

Patriach Project

In 2019, Mike Aviss from Marlborough District Council (MDC) introduced FuturEcology to Lucy Marshall from Patriach Vineyard Limited Partnership.

The 73 hectare vineyard, owned by My Farm Investments, has three areas identified as significant wetlands by MDC and My Farms were very keen to work at restoring these wetlands to their former glory.
